Champions League 2026/27 on UK TV: Who Shows Which Games

Champions League UK TV 2026/27 split: TNT Sports 172 matches, Prime Video 17 Tuesday games, BBC highlights

Quick answer

For Champions League UK TV coverage in 2026/27, TNT Sports shows 172 of the 189 matches, all of them also streaming on HBO Max. Prime Video shows the other 17, taking first pick of one Tuesday night game each round. BBC has free highlights only. No single subscription covers every game this season.

Champions League nights in the UK now come with a small trap. You settle in at 7.55pm, open the TNT Sports app, and the game you wanted isn’t there. It’s on Prime Video. That happens because the rights are split, and the split isn’t random: it follows a pattern you can learn in about two minutes.

This Champions League UK TV guide sets out exactly who shows which games, how the Tuesday pick works, what each service costs, and every key date from now until the final in Madrid. We checked it against UEFA’s published calendar, Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max pricing and current UK TV listings on 2 October 2026.

The total of 189 isn’t arbitrary either. The league phase has 144 matches, then come 16 knockout play-off games, 16 in the round of 16, eight quarter-finals, four semi-finals and the final.

How the Rights Split Actually Works

TNT Sports holds the main live package for the 2024/25 to 2026/27 cycle, which means this is its last season as the primary home of the competition. Amazon holds a smaller package built around one idea: first choice of the Tuesday evening fixtures. That Tuesday-first rule is the whole basis of Champions League on Prime Video.

So on any Tuesday matchday, Amazon looks at the 8pm games and picks one, usually a headline tie. That match goes out exclusively on Prime Video. It won’t appear live on TNT Sports, Sky Sports or anywhere else. Every other game that night, and every game on a Wednesday, stays with TNT.

  • Tuesday 5.45pm games: TNT Sports
  • Tuesday 8pm games: one on Prime Video, the rest on TNT Sports
  • Wednesday games: all on TNT Sports
  • The final: TNT Sports

Why Sky Sports keeps coming up

Sky Sports has no live Champions League rights in 2026/27. If you’re a Sky customer, you watch through TNT Sports added to your Sky package, plus the Prime Video app for the Tuesday pick. Sky Sports itself only shows news and reaction.

Which Champions League Games Are on Prime Video?

Champions League on Prime Video is a Tuesday-only deal. All 17 games land on Tuesday nights. Amazon announces each pick a few weeks before the round, once UEFA confirms the schedule, so nobody can give you the full list for the season in advance. Anyone claiming to is guessing.

Here’s what UK TV listings show for the rounds confirmed so far:

DatePrime Video pickKick-off (UK)
Tuesday 13 October 2026Atlético Madrid v Manchester United8pm
Tuesday 20 October 2026Liverpool v Villarreal8pm

Notice a pattern? Both picks involve an English club. That’s no accident. Amazon wants UK sign-ups, and a Premier League side on a Tuesday is the easiest sell. If your team plays on a Tuesday, check Prime first.

Does Prime Video show the knockout rounds?

Yes. The Tuesday pick continues through the knockout play-offs, round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals. The final, on a Saturday, goes to TNT Sports.

Which Champions League Games Are on TNT Sports?

Pretty much everything else. TNT Sports carries 172 live games across its channels, and since 26 March 2026 every one of them also streams on HBO Max, which replaced discovery+ as TNT’s streaming home in the UK. If you only pay for one service, Champions League TNT Sports access covers far more ground than Prime.

The confirmed October listings give you a feel for it:

DateFixtureChannel
Tuesday 13 October 2026Arsenal v Lille, 8pmTNT Sports 1
Wednesday 14 October 2026Manchester City v PSG, 8pmTNT Sports 1
Tuesday 20 October 2026PSG v Barcelona, 8pmTNT Sports 2
Wednesday 21 October 2026Bayern Munich v Arsenal, 8pmTNT Sports 1

Channel numbers change round to round, so treat them as a guide rather than a fixed rule. The bigger point stands: if a game isn’t Prime’s Tuesday pick, it’s part of the Champions League TNT Sports package.

English Clubs in the 2026/27 Champions League

Five English sides are in the league phase this season: Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa. That’s a lot of fixtures to track across two services, and it’s exactly why so many fans end up paying for both.

A simple habit makes Champions League UK TV coverage much easier to follow. On a Monday, check that week’s listings for your club. If they play Tuesday at 8pm, look for the Prime Video logo. If they play Wednesday, or at 5.45pm, it’s TNT Sports.

Champions League UK Kick-Off Times

For Champions League UK TV viewers, league phase rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday have two slots: 5.45pm for the early games and 8pm for the rest. Matchday 8 on Wednesday 27 January 2027 is different. All 18 games kick off at the same time, so pick your game early or follow a goals round-up.

Knockout ties from February onwards are played at 8pm UK time. The final on Saturday 5 June 2027 has an evening kick-off, with the exact time to be confirmed by UEFA.

How to Watch on Sky, BT, EE and Virgin Media

Champions League UK TV Costs: What It Takes to Watch Every Game

Here’s the honest maths. To see all 189 live games, you need TNT Sports and Amazon Prime. Using the prices published at HBO Max’s UK launch and Amazon’s own UK pricing:

OptionMonthly costCatch
TNT Sports Saver (HBO Max)£25.9912-month minimum, HBO Max website only
TNT Sports monthly (HBO Max)£30.99Cancel any time
HBO Max Standard with Ads + TNT Sports Saver£27.9912-month minimum, adds HBO Max entertainment
Amazon Prime£8.99 (or £95 a year)Includes Prime delivery and Prime Video
Cheapest way to see every game£34.98TNT Sports Saver plus Prime monthly

Sports add-on prices move more often than entertainment plans, so confirm on HBO Max and Amazon before you sign up. If you go through Sky, BT or Virgin, their TNT Sports price will differ from the HBO Max figures above.

Can You Watch the Champions League for Free in the UK?

Not live, and that’s the biggest gap in Champions League UK TV coverage this season. The BBC holds free-to-air highlights rights and runs a highlights programme on Wednesday nights across BBC One and BBC Two, with clips and replays on BBC iPlayer. We haven’t seen any free live UK broadcasts confirmed for 2026/27.

One thing people miss: you need a TV licence to watch live TV on any channel or service as it’s broadcast, and to use BBC iPlayer at all. That applies to TNT Sports and Prime Video live games too.

What Changes for Champions League UK TV After This Season?

2026/27 is the last year of the current deal. From 2027/28 to 2030/31, Paramount+ takes over the main live package that TNT Sports holds now. Amazon keeps its Tuesday night game, and the BBC keeps highlights until 2031.

In practice, that means another switch next summer. Champions League UK TV rights will look different again, so don’t lock into a long TNT contract that runs well past June 2027 without checking what you’ll actually be watching on it.
